What Is a Prop Firm Consistency Rule?

What Is a Prop Firm Consistency Rule?

A consistency rule limits how much of your total profit can come from your single best trading day. Firms use it to stop traders passing an evaluation or qualifying for a payout with one oversized trade.

Example

With a 40% rule, if your best day made $1,600, your total profit needs to reach $4,000 before you qualify, because $1,600 must be no more than 40% of the total.

How firms differ

Percentages commonly range from 30% to 50%, and firms differ on whether they use net profit, winning days only or the profit target. Some apply it only during the evaluation, others only to payouts.
