What is a consistency rule?

Many prop firms limit how much of your total profit can come from a single day. The rule exists to stop traders passing with one oversized trade. A common version looks like this:

Best day profit ÷ Total profit ≤ Consistency limit

With a 40% rule, if your best day made $1,600, your total profit must be at least $1,600 ÷ 0.40 = $4,000. If you have made $3,200 so far, you need another $800 from other days before you qualify.

Rules differ between firms

Some firms use total net profit, some count only winning days, some compare against the profit target, and the percentage typically ranges from about 30% to 50%. Check your firm's exact wording and set the inputs to match.

How to stay consistent

The easiest way to pass a consistency rule is to keep position size steady. A very big day usually comes from oversizing. If you have one, keep trading normal size rather than forcing extra profit.
